Safer space guidelines
In EASA Rhizome we do not tolerate any kinds of discrimination such as: ableism, racism, classism, sexism, ageism, homo-, trans- or queerphobia or any other forms of hatred or violence.
We relate to each other through respect, aim to inclusivity and understanding, embracing diversity, taking care of each other and helping each other to learn. We acknowledge that the event brings together many cultural backgrounds and a multitude of experiences.
To better make these principles clear we have gathered our safer space guidelines on this page.
There are different roles within EASA which make the assemblies happen. These are structured around national teams, which enable the spread of information within the international community. The roles regularly found in every assembly are participants, national contacts (NCs), workshop tutors, helpers, guests and organizers. Below you can find information on what the different roles mean and of the timelines and process for participating in EASA in these roles.
Participants & NCs
This year’s participant call has been closed.
The biggest part of the EASA community are the participants. Primarily students ofarchitecture across all levels of study and coming from all corners of Europe. They are the main attendants of the workshops.
National Contacts form the key communication link between organisers and participants. as well as between EASA as an international and a local community. They are responsible for the distribution of information amongst the EASA network, both on a national level throughout the year and within the national team during the EASA gathering.
National Contacts are in charge of selecting the participants who form the national team each year. Most of the time, NCs have attended previous EASAs and are well linked within the community. Anyone wishing to apply as a tutor, or ask more questions about EASA, is encouraged to reach out to their NC for advice. An up-to-date contact list can be found here.
Helpers
The call for helpers for EASA Rhizome is closed.
Helpers are one of the most important roles in EASA! Helpers make the event by coordinating and facilitating many functions and logistics during the event. You can find helpers working at the info-point, kitchen, care, everywhere… When helpers have free time they might enjoy hanging out at the site, join the workshops or rhizoom around. Many helpers are already familiar with the community, but it is not necessary.
Tutors
The call for workshops for EASA Rhizome is closed.
Tutors are the ones initiating, proposing and guiding the execution of workshops during the assembly. Tutors can come as individuals or as groups. EASA is open to an interdisciplinary approach and welcomes tutors coming from disciplines outside architecture. Tutors may also be at very different stages in their careers as students, educators or practitioners.
Guests
The call for guests for EASA Rhizome is closed.
We are welcoming guests to EASA Rhizome in Savonlinna Finland during 26.7.-10.8. Guests are people visiting EASA for a few days without a specific role. Often they are old easians who can’t commit to the event for the whole two weeks.

Organizers
Each year, a core group of students and young designers will take on the task of hosting the assembly in their country. They are the ones responsible for the selection and curation of the programme and workshops. They are the key point of contact for any queries around potential involvement, contributions, collaborations or sponsorship.
